About the 90-day bank bill

Wholesale yield on three-month bank paper, recorded by the RBNZ (B2). Latest daily: 3.01% on Aug 25, 2026. The RBNZ does not set this rate; markets do.

History uses INM.DB03.N (1985–2017) and INM.DB03.NZZV (2018–). Chart and long-run stats use month-ends. From Jan 31, 1985 to Aug 25, 2026: mean 6.79%, median 5.64%; low 0.25% (Nov 30, 2020), high 27.40% (Sep 30, 1985).

Reading the figures

Bank-bill yields reflect the price of short-term bank funding, including expectations for the OCR and wider market conditions. The RBNZ records the yield; it does not set it.

Read the latest value together with its observation date. The change compares it with the previous observation; when a policy rate is unchanged, the last actual move is shown where available. Percentage points measure the difference between two rates; a percentage change measures that difference relative to the earlier value. The summary statistics describe the history used on this page, not a forecast or a separate official aggregate.

The chart and table present the same series, with the newest table entries first. Range controls filter the chart without changing the data or recalculating the summary statistics. Explore enables zoom and pan. A policy rate, a market benchmark and a retail survey average are different measures; none is a personal loan or deposit offer.

About these rates

The deposit facility rate applies to banks’ overnight deposits with the Eurosystem. The ECB Governing Council sets it. €STR, shown separately, measures unsecured overnight borrowing in the euro market.

This page brings together central-bank policy rates, overnight market benchmarks such as SONIA, €STR and CORRA, and New Zealand lending and deposit rates from RBNZ surveys. These measures serve different purposes and are not interchangeable. Each series links to its history, definition, source and licence.

Choosing a country changes the order of the series, not their values or coverage. Euro-area countries share the ECB series; the site does not create national policy rates for them. Figures come from official files and are republished without alteration. Missing data is not estimated. Retail lending and deposit rates are available only for New Zealand. Readings may lag their source and are not financial advice.
