About this desk
The Brazil desk leads with the Selic target, read from the BIS central bank policy rate series for Brazil, then US, Mexico and ECB rates. The Selic target is set by the Banco Central do Brasil's Copom and is the anchor for the overnight interbank rate; the BIS series is the overnight Selic target from 1999, with earlier stretches splicing other central-bank instruments. It is drawn as daily steps because it changes only at Copom decisions.
All desks show the same series in a different order, so the figures do not change when you switch. Values are republished with attribution to the BIS; this site is not an official BIS publication. The build ingests no Brazilian retail lending rate, so that page is absent rather than estimated. Nothing here is financial advice, and readings may lag their source.
