About the Base Rate
Bank of Korea Base Rate from the official change list on bok.or.kr. Current: 3.00% on 17 Sep 2026. Chart is stepped at Monetary Policy Board decisions.
From 6 May 1999 to 17 Sep 2026 (9,997 observations): mean 2.90%, median 3.00%; low 0.50% (28 May 2020), high 5.25% (5 Oct 2000). Not a mortgage or deposit rate.
The Base Rate is the Bank of Korea's policy interest rate, set by its Monetary Policy Board. This page reads the Bank's published base-rate change list and shows the rate as a daily step series from May 1999, when the current Base Rate framework began. Because the Board changes it only at policy meetings, the line is flat between decisions and jumps on announcement dates; the chart is drawn accordingly. The Base Rate is the policy anchor for Korean money-market rates, not a retail lending or deposit rate.
Read the headline with its as-of date, then the "versus the previous reading" line. Where the Board has held the rate, the page surfaces the date of the last actual change instead of a run of zero values. Mean, median, low and high are arithmetic summaries of the daily observations in this build; a long hold at one level pulls them toward it. Chart and Table show one series two ways, range buttons filter the drawn window, and Explore loads zoom and pan on request.
About this desk
France does not set its own policy rate in this build. The France desk leads with the ECB deposit facility rate, the euro-area policy rate, then €STR, the euro overnight benchmark, followed by UK and US rates. France's monetary policy is set by the ECB Governing Council, so the desk uses the shared euro-area series rather than a Banque de France rate that does not exist as a policy instrument.
Germany, Italy, Ireland and the /ea/ desk show the same two ECB series. Values come from the ECB Data Portal and are republished with attribution; every desk carries the same series in a different order, so the figures do not change when you switch. The build ingests no French retail lending or deposit series, so those pages are absent rather than estimated. Nothing here is financial advice, and readings may lag their source.
