Reading this series
Sweden's policy rate, styrräntan, is set by Sveriges Riksbank and is the rate the Riksbank uses to steer monetary policy. This page uses the BIS central bank policy rate series for Sweden (WS_CBPOL), compiled with the Riksbank. Since 1994 the series is the repo rate; earlier stretches splice the marginal rate and the discount rate, which were the policy instruments of their day. The rate changes only at Riksbank decisions, so it is drawn as a daily step series.
Read the headline with its as-of date, then the "versus the previous reading" line; when the rate has been held, the page shows the date of the last actual move. Mean, median, low and high are arithmetic summaries of the observations in this build, not official aggregates. Chart and Table show the same series two ways, the range buttons filter the drawn window only, and Explore loads zoom and pan on request. The policy rate is not a mortgage or deposit rate, and this page is not an official BIS publication.
